* *The qualifications for this position include:* * Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field * Strong organizational management and development skills * Ability to pass criminal and central registry history as well as drug screen * Clean driving record *Knowledge Requirements* * Knowledge of external community resources * Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment * Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping * Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office equipment * Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software *Special Skills and Specifications* * Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills including de-escalation techniques * Ability to conduct research independently * Be able to multi-task * Detail-oriented * Strong organizational skills * Problem-solve * Prioritize * Information gathering and information monitoring * Customer service orientation * Demonstrate cultural sensitivity with persons served *Position reports to Compass North Program Manager* *Purpose of Position:* Compass North Youth Services Case Manager provides community, school and street-based outreach services to locate and assist youth who are already experiencing or may be at risk of becoming homeless or runaways.
*Service Responsibilities* * Provide crisis intervention, information and referrals services to runaway and home youth and youth at risk of homelessness.
* Provide case management services to run-away and homeless youth and youth at risk of homelessness * Comply with all laws and policies governing the work * Arrange for shelter care and specialized needs of runaway and homeless youth * Provide community education services on youth issues, including but not limited to homelessness issues, bullying and advocacy * Collaborate with schools and other community agencies to assure the most efficient and effective use of resources for youth and families * Maintain appropriate records and client statistics on a timely basis * Attend required staff meetings, in-services and other agency wide functions * Maintain appropriate case records and client statistics * General clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing * Handle requests for information and data * Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails * Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system * Maintain confidentiality at all times with handling records and when communicating with others *Relationship and Team Building* * Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all levels to support the use of family-centered, strength-based, child-focused practices while assisting families in building their capacities to provide safe and nurturing environments with their children * Demonstrate behaviors, actions and attitudes that are consistent with the agency’s vision, mission and values * Work respectfully, positively, professionally and collaboratively with team members *Administration* * Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of agency documents and records * Support continuous quality improvement efforts by providing requested information and documentation to Executive Director * Follow agency’s human resources, finance and other policies and procedures in the performance of duties *Other Duties* * Participate in internal or external committees as required or requested * Other duties as required and assigned *Work Site Location* The work site location for this position is in Alpena.
There may be times when Compass North Youth Services Manager will travel to other counties to serve clients.
*Physical Demands and Work Environment* While performing the duties of this job, Compass North Youth Services Case Manager position will require frequent operation of computer, filing, scanning and/or uploading documentation and working a flexible schedule.
The physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling crouching and bending.
Case management duties can be challenging.
As a result, this position may be more mentally challenging than physically challenging.
There will be extended periods of sitting/standing required in performing administrative tasks.
*Technology and Equipment* Computer, photocopier, telephone, fax machine, cell phone and MiSACWIS database *Supervisory Responsibility* This position does not require supervisory responsibility *Key Relationships* This position requires interaction with all employees of the agency Job Type: Full-time Pay: $35,700.
00 - $40,000.
