Norton railroad jack was manufactured in Boston Massachusetts in Aug.
1892, built to handle very heavy loads.
One side of the jack displays "B.
C.
CAR DEP" with other lettering that is difficult to decipher.
This piece has always 'lived' in the Bay City area and leads us to believe this was used in the local railroad yards in and around Bay City and may have possibly been used with the 'interurban' transportation system that was a popular mode of transportation in the early 1900's .
As seen in the photos, this 15 ton jack looks to still be in great condition.
