Summary: The purpose of this position is to augment the imaging department staff in and around imaging procedures.
These duties will be under direct oversight by imaging leadership.
The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to patient transport, optimization of exam performance, patient safety, patient experience and department workflow.
Duties include transporting Inpatients and ER patients to and from department, assisting with the safe transfer of patients on and off imaging equipment, assisting with outpatient workflows(assisting patients to and from waiting room to changing room and exam room, assisting with portable exams and other support duties as needed.
Responsibilities: (75%)*Safely transport ER patients and inpatients to and from the radiology department.
Assist in safely transferring patients on and off imaging tables.
(25%)*Stage and prep inpatients and outpatients for imaging procedures, dispatch and prioritize runs based on acuity, utilize good communication skills and all relevant Epic applications, assist patients to and from imaging rooms, setting up rooms for procedures, triaging phone calls and providing all patient care duties within the scope of practice.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs computer based tasks.
Follows established safety procedures: patient identification, safe transfers, prepares and maintains O2, Follows universal precautions, assures transport devices are cleaned between each transport, maintains confidentiality and documents on medical record.

Required Education: High School Diploma Certifications and Licensures: Credential:BLS: Basic Life Support Equivalent Experience: Within 1 month of hire or transfer.
Qualification Source: AHA Credential:PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification Equivalent Experience: 1) New hires on or after April 1, 2020 will be required to have a current CNA certification and keep it active must hold an internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program or Medical Assistant with the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.
2) Current Care Assistants as of April 1, 2020 who do not have a current CNA will be grandfathered in and not required to obtain the certification as long as they stay in their current classification.
3) Current Care Assistants as of April 1, 2020 who do have a current and active CNA will be required to maintain and keep active their certification as long as they are in their current classification.
4) Internal transfers after on or after April 1, 2020 will be required to obtain the CAN certification or complete the internal MyMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification within six (6) months of their transfer date.
Once obtaining their certification, they will be required to maintain and keep the certification active while in employed in either classification.
Other Information: EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Computer knowledge required.
Ability to communicate successfully with patients, family and staff required.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
Organizational skills/computer skills required, ability to prioritize preferred.
Quality customer service skills required, excellent customer relation skills preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 51-100 lbs.
