Local Mid-Michigan Trucking Company is looking to add timely and self-motivated drivers to their fleet.
Must be able to work independently under the guidance and supervision of fleet management.
Company truck and trailer will be assigned.
Variety of loads, though most are local during the spring, summer and early fall months.
More regional deliveries are required in fall and winter months depending on demand and availability.
Home most nights; weekends and holidays off.
Paid by % of gross, determined by the type and number of lanes run.
One week held-Paid weekly.
Requirements:
Must be 21
Will accept new drivers
Valid Class A CDL - No automatic restrictions; company trucks are manual (standard) transmission
Must be able to adhere to company policies, procedures and standards
Must be able to provide legible and accurate documentation of POD’s, mileage and receipts
Negative results for drug and alcohol screening
Current DOT physical
FMCSA approved
ELD compliant
Flatbed experience preferred
Must be able and willing to utilize tarps
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle, such as a truck or tractor-trailer, to transport goods and materials to designated locations
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving and ensure the safe delivery of cargo
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment
- Inspect vehicles before and after each trip to ensure they are in proper working order
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating a manual transmission vehicle
- Knowledge of flatbed trucking and securement techniques for transporting various types of freight
- Ability to load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent navigation skills and the ability to follow directions accurately
- Basic automotive repair knowledge to handle minor maintenance issues on the road
