OVERVIEW: Saginaw Township Community Schools has about 4,400 students (K-12).
Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the elementary schools changed from K-5 to two lower (K-2) and two upper (3-5) buildings.
There is also a gifted and talented magnet school K-5.
This recruitment is not for that magnet building.
Curricular changes during the last few years include using units of Study for Language Arts, Reveal Math and STEM based science, as well as a major implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
SALARY: This 220-day position is represented by the Saginaw Township Administrators Association.
The collective bargaining agreement expires June 30, 2024, with wage re-openers for 2022-2023 and 2023-2024.
The salary range is $88,482 to $98,818 with traditional benefits.
GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Oversees the daily operation and function of an elementary school within Saginaw Township Community Schools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Meet state certification requirements to serve as elementary principal.
A valid Michigan Administrator certificate is preferred.
A valid Michigan Teaching certificate is preferred.
Master’s Degree in Administration or related field preferred.
Five years of successful teaching experience (at least three years in an elementary school).
School administrative experience, particularly as a principal, preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead staff in change process through collaboration and problem solving.
Proficiency in use of technology and knowledge of technology integration with curriculum.
Experience in leading organizational and instructional change to support success for all learners.
Knowledge of elementary curriculum, Michigan Merit Curriculum, Michigan Regulations and requirements, understanding of data analysis, MTSS, MICIP, progress monitoring, DRA, and NWEA.
Experience preferred.
Understanding of teacher evaluation; experience with the 5D+ Teacher Evaluation system desirable.
Regular, in-person attendance required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Exercises leadership in implementing program of education approved for the school to meet the needs of students.
Sets school goals and expectations for the staff and students.
Directs the activities of the building staff in the performance of their duties in a collaborative manner.
Evaluates and counsels all building staff members regarding their individual performance.
Plans, organizes, and directs all school activities.
Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct to maintain student discipline.
Reports to the appropriate central office administrators regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies, and curriculum.
Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of the educational program.
Implements Board of Education Policies and Administrative Rules and Regulations relating to the school.
Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other functions required or appropriate to the school's administration.
Utilizes all resources of the school system and the community in developing the most effective educational program, including the proper use of restricted funding (e.
g.
, Title I, Section 31a At-Risk) Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests and monitors expenditure of funds.
Regular, in-person attendance is required.
Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems.
Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
Assumes leadership for the building level of the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).
Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
