Assists the Center by the performance of "floating" job duties.
These duties may encompass such areas as reception, medical assisting and phlebotomy.
Participates in a team-based approach to care in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
Participates in activities related to Quality Improvement.
Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent.
Completion of Medical Assisting program with training in clinic procedures and degree preferred.
Certification as Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA or CCMA).
Minimum of one year experience in a medical setting, preferably in clinical office.
Must be adaptable to changing work patterns/environments on a regular basis.
Job Duties
Answers telephones promptly, and handles/screens call courteously, professionally and appropriately, including scheduling of patient appointments as directed and taking messages.
Greets patients and schedules return appointments.
Verifies insurance coverage, conducts income determinations and assigns payment category and updates patient information.
Inputs data in computer in accordance with "Patient Accounting Manual" and H.
D.
I.
billing policy.
Follows Front Desk Manual for Procedures.
Prepares charts for new patients and requests charts from Medical Records Department.
Retrieves and checks encounter forms for completeness.
Prepares patients for examination by the physician, including obtaining vital signs and measurements and determining the reason(s) for the patient visit.
Assists the physician in the exam room when required.
Cleans and disinfects work area and maintains supplies and equipment in exam rooms.
Records and maintains accurate clinical data and performs tracking and follow-up functions as assigned.
Sorts and distributes clinic mail/deliveries as necessary.
Performs phlebotomy services for the site.
Prepares and send specimens to reference labs as appropriate.
