INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY TECH(Job Id 19132) Location US:MI:SAGINAW Category TECHNICAL Employment Type EMPLOYEE Post Date 03/06/2024 Close Date Description Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW VARIABLE SHIFT OCCASIONAL *ONE CALL WEEKEND PER SCHEDULE REQUIRED Summary: The Special Procedures Technologist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
This individual assists physicians in a variety of diagnostic and invasive procedures in the Interventional Radiology Lab specializing in the care of patients undergoing such exams as peripheral angiography, stent placement, PTA, cerebral angiography, embolizations, tube placements, and thrombolytic therapies.
Responsibilities: Prepares and positions patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects proper technical factors and operates and positions all digital imaging equipment and accessories.
Prepares and operates pressure injector per department protocol for administration of contrast media.
Practices aseptic technique in all procedures; preps and drapes pt.
in a timely manner.
Performs scrub duties according to standard care plan, assisting physician with introduction of guidewires, catheters, balloons, stents, etc in complex diagnostic and invasive procedures including atherectomies, PTA’s, stent placements, embolizations, cerebral angiograms.
Achieves hemostatis manually and/or mechanically and assesses puncture sites and hemostasis Operates computer software to save and retrieve data, create roadmaps, and loops.
Performs vessel analysis for balloon/stent measurements and reconstructions from data sets.
Evaluates images and data for technical quality, produces quantitative, and 3-D measurements and images when indicated.
Ensures that processed images are networked to PACS in a timely manner.
Uses RIS (radiology information system) to update scheduling and billing records Maintains flexibility to ensure department workload consistency.
Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information.
Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
Anticipates customer needs and provides services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff.
Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis.
Researches and resolves problems.
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization.
Attends mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required.
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.
) Performs other duties as assigned Other information: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography required with a modality specific registry preferred.
Current BCLS certification Required Two years of current radiography experience in a hospital setting.
Preferred: Two years of current Interventional or Cardiovascular Technology experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Well versed in anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
Documented evidence of education based on observation, hands-on experience, and/or didactic instruction with Interventional Radiology procedures and equipment.
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and a proven ability to work effectively with a diverse audience.
Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
Computer literate Time management and organizational skills.
Self directed.
Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
