*About us* Johncock Forestry Products Inc is a lumber and mulch manufacturer in South Branch Michigan.
The sawmill makes lumber for pallet manufacturers, wood chips for building materials, sawdust for animal bedding, and raw material for landscape mulch.
The mulch manufacturing division turns raw material into bulk mulch that will improve soil conditions, improve landscaping aesthetics, or improve safety of local playgrounds.
JFP is a family owned and operated company located in Northeast lower Michigan, near the heart of Huron National Forest.
Attendance and punctuality are just as important as skill level and ability to learn.
The shift starts at 5 am Monday - Thursday.
If one person on the shift is missing, production cuts in half.
Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain circular sawing equipment to cut and shape materials according to specifications - Read and interpret work orders to determine materials needed and cutting dimensions - Set up and adjust sawing machines for proper cutting angles, speeds, and feeds - Monitor the quality of cuts and make adjustments as necessary - Minimize the amount of scrap lumber by maintaining optional accuracy while cutting - Adjust the speed of the saw and feed rolls - Cross train in other positions in the mill - Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality - Maintain a clean and organized work area Qualifications: - Experience in a sawmill - Forklift experience - Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers - Previous experience in millwork or carpentry is preferred Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
