Reder Landscaping, an award-winning landscape construction & maintenance company in Midland, MI is seeking a qualified Hardscape Construction Crew Leader to join our talented, growing team!
*Description*
The Hardscape Construction Crew Leader is responsible for leading the safe, effective, and efficient completion of Reder Landscaping’s hardscape construction projects.
These projects include but are not limited to; brick paver patios, retaining walls, firepits, outdoor living spaces, and natural stone applications.
Crew Leader must have extensive experience working with various hardscaping materials and tools, along with a basic knowledge of landscaping.
The Crew Leader must complete installations professionally and accurately according to company standards and procedures.
The Hardscape Crew Leader is directly supervised by the Department Manager and Superintendent.
Position is subject to the seasonal nature of the working schedule, including potential for overtime and substitution days due to weather conditions.
*Objectives*
* Ensure customer satisfaction with communication, timeliness, and quality work.
* Ensure jobsite safety standards are met.
* Must consistently complete installations within budget with a focus on appropriate equipment and labor utilization.
* Lead, manage, train, and develop assigned crew members.
* Continually advance technical skill set by obtaining state and industry certifications as promoted by Reder Landscaping, as well as completing all assigned safety modules.
*Competencies*
* Ability to coordinate & prioritize daily and weekly schedules with the Department Manager and Superintendent.
* Extensive working knowledge of all hardscape materials, including but not limited to brick and natural stone pavers, concrete, and natural boulders.
* Extensive working knowledge of paver installation process including grade setting, blueprint reading, base materials, and compaction requirements.
* Extensive working knowledge of landscape, hardscape, and construction tools including but not limited to brick saws, compactors, trenchers, skid steer loaders, carpentry tools.
* Ability to operate skid steers and excavation equipment on varying terrain.
* Must represent position and company professionally while adhering to Reder Landscaping’s vision and core values.
*Essential Functions*
* Lead and oversee hardscape installations including brick and natural stone paver patios, raised patios, natural boulder and concrete block retaining walls, walkways, driveways, outdoor kitchens, bars, fireplaces, and more.
Maintain a focus on structural integrity.
* Collaborate with Designer, Superintendent, and Department Manager with quality, safety, and customer satisfaction as top priorities.
* Responsible for proper vehicle, equipment, and trailer operation and cleanliness.
Log and report maintenance concerns to Lead Mechanic.
* Enforce safety policy and conduct regular safety tailgate meetings with assigned crew.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Valid Driver's License, and Chauffeur License.
* Must be insurable on Reder Landscaping’s auto policy.
* Willing to work overtime.
* Physically able to lift and carry more than 50 lbs.
* Supervisory and leadership experience.
* Positive attitude.
* Strong work ethic.
* Ability to utilize digital tablet and software for job management.
* 5 years hardscape experience preferred.
Pay Range - $21-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
