*SITE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST* The Site Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is expected to display and improve upon the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform all jobsite safety-related functions.
The Site Environmental Health and Safety Specialist must possess and promote a positive, pro-active safety attitude, and must deal with employees, managers, and customers in a manner that promotes safety as well as quality and productivity.
The Site Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is a site safety trainer and coach.
*Responsibilities:* Conduct and document safety meetings, safety orientations, safety training, and client-specific training.
Conduct and document site safety audits and implements corrective actions.
Develop site-specific safety plans, procedures, job safety analyses, and other safety-related documents per the project scope.
Perform incident investigations to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions Select, calibrate, and operate a wide variety of industrial hygiene monitoring equipment appropriate for the hazard(s) being evaluated.
Maintain SDS records on the job site.
Perform site risk assessment.
Develop and implement proactive strategies to minimize incidents.
*Qualifications:* Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi-task and complete multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Ability to function in a collaborative team environment, while also able to operate independently.
Ability to work with all levels of employees and adapt to different types of personalities.
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
*Education and Experience:* 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction and/or manufacturing industry environmental, health and safety.
OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, CPR/First Aid/AED, and 40 Hour Hazwoper training are a plus.
BCSP Certification preferred.
*Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel or Environmental Requirements:*The position requires extended travel (up to three weeks consecutively at times).
When Traveling Out of State of Michigan$30 a night per diem + $30 a night bonus.
All travel costs and accommodations are fully paid by Bierlein in advance.
Additional $6 per hour added to hourly wage.
When Traveling In the State of Michigan$30 a night per diem All travel costs and accommodations are fully paid by Bierlein in advance.
Additional $3 per hour added to hourly wage.
*Physical Requirements:*Candidates should be capable of walking and climbing in a variety of work environments both inside and outside of buildings on a variety of work surfaces.
